Grounding System

Perform scheduled tests and inspections in the field on substation protective grounding systems. As a minimum the following tests and inspections will be performed on each designated substation protective ground system:
  • Measure and record the resistance to remote earth of the substation ground grid systems by the fall-of-potential method.
  • Measure and record the step and touch potential resistance values of the substation ground grid systems.
  • Verify continuity of equipment grounding conductors to protective ground grid.
  • Check equipment grounding connections.
The grounding data will be recorded on forms developed by Full Fill. Documentation will include ground grid resistance to remote earth, calculated step and touch potential values, initial verification of continuity and integrity of equipment grounding conductors, and recommendations for additional repair, replacement or testing.
